By now you know that two of my 'Pastors of the Past' are Charles Haddon Spurgeon and Bible Commentator, Matthew Henry. So, I thought I might share some 'quotes' from the first for a few Sundays for 'Devotions' in 'such times as these are' - world-wide. I pray they provide you 'comfort' and 'trust' in the Lord.
Remember first, 2 Timothy 3:16 [audio-bible.com/bible/bible.html]
'All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;'.
Please remember that as we continue, my prayer continues to be: [audio-bible.com/bible/bible.html]
'Heavenly Father. I earnestly pray that all that is posted in all 'my rooms in my house in Jesus' blesses all you draw to these locations; because I know that beyond words I can express, 'You who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to Your power that is at work within us' in Jesus' name I pray you do this for all who enters to taste and see that You are good. [Psalm 34:8; Ephesians 3:20]. Amen. Amen.
'Gleaning from Some Quotes of Charles Haddon Spurgeon Devotions Post C1, April 12, 2020; Post C2, April 26, 2020
“Visit many good books, but live in the Bible.” ― Charles Spurgeon
“By perseverance the snail reached the ark.” ― Charles Spurgeon
“Give yourself unto reading. The man who never reads will never be read; he who never quotes will never be quoted. He who will not use the thoughts of other men’s brains, proves that he has no brains of his own. You need to read."― Charles Spurgeon
'We are quite persuaded that the very best way for you to be spending your leisure time, is to be either reading or praying. You may get much instruction from books which afterwards you may use as a true weapon in your Lord and Master’s service. Paul cries, “Bring the books” — join in the cry.”
― Charles Haddon Spurgeon
“A good character is the best tombstone. Those who loved you and were helped by you will remember you when forget-me-nots have withered. Carve your name on hearts, not on marble.”
― Charles H. Spurgeon
“You say, 'If I had a little more, I should be very satisfied.' You make a mistake. If you are not content with what you have, you would not be satisfied if it were doubled.” ― Charles Spurgeon
“Have you no wish for others to be saved? Then you're not saved yourself, be sure of that!”
― Charles Spurgeon
“Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom.”
― Charles Spurgeon
As the Lord wills, I shall post again on Sunday, May 17, 2020. May you be 'blessed', as you 'ponder' the above, prayerfully. Amen. Amen.
